Operational Lead - QC. Brand new position with a manufacturing multinational in the Mayo area. Heading up a new QC plant. You will be responsible for building a team of analytical specialists/managers /supervisors for this new facility. Reporting to: Laboratory Director. General Manager. The Role: lead the team in all aspects of the laboratory operation, providing leadership, management and technical expertise. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills in laboratory analysis and Quality Management. Subject matter expert and consultant for the Company. The role is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a laboratory that tests and analyses the quality of the organization’s raw materials, in process products and finished goods. Implements and monitors laboratory operating procedures. Ensures that experiments are conducted within established budgets. Allocates laboratory operations and workflow; liaises with other functional and operational area managers. Establishes annual laboratory budgets. Makes hiring decisions and recommends investments in technology and systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES. Manage a group of people in all aspects of laboratory operation. Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills. Leverage employee feedback to develop and engage the team members. Ensure proper use of resources i.e. equipment, people & information systems. Develop and execute people plans for the laboratory including evaluating resource requirements, reallocating resources to meet testing needs, reward and recognition program. Ensure laboratory is operated under local and TCCC safety requirements. Manage purchasing process for the lab. Control operational expenses for laboratory including operating budget (OPEX) and capital plan (CAPEX. Work to and ensure self/team compliance to Quality Management requirements for training, documentation, instrumentation control/ maintenance and audits. Assure lab processes and customer service meets business needs. Lead all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including people and lab infrastructure. Supports troubleshooting of quality issues (incoming and outgoing. Support the creation and oversee the development of short- and long-term Business Plans (BPs) for a business unit or department that are comprehensive, realistic and aligned with broader Company and Business Unit plans. Act as scientific, regulatory, technical or quality expert and consultant by responding to targeted questions from the field or other departments/business units. REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE. Masters or PhD qualification in Science preferably Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or Microbiology with a demonstrated aptitude to relate business and technical requirements. 10+ years Analytical and Operational leadership roles in a Laboratory.
