Process Control Engineer - County Mayo. JOB SUMMARY. This role reports to the Automation Manager. Working within the Engineering Function, the objective of this role is to support technical aspects of the workstream from a core, automation engineering based skillset, associated with Batch, PLC and SCADA systems. The key aspects of the role include: Interrogating at PLC level, machines and processes that support the overall automated production systems which run on a 24-hour basis. • Providing a troubleshooting service, working with software systems which form the basis of automated traceability for KORE compliance; • Providing technical support for Scada systems which are used for production monitoring and display of complex process and packaging systems; • Developing proactive automation solutions for scope, cost and schedule evaluation; • Executing software upgrades and bespoke software development; • Manage strategic projects from initiation to completion; • Actively lead application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques closely aligned with business requirements. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES. • Apply proactive and methodical approach to troubleshooting daily production issues with cross-functional teams; • Perform detailed, technical breakdown analysis of losses / inefficiencies in your work stream and ensure that quantitative, automated data is readily available to stakeholders in a timely manner; • Take ownership and lead the development, agreement and execution of cross-functional resolution plans in order to address gaps in throughput, quality, safety and environmental metrics; • Project manage automation centered projects & control system modification, ensuring that verification & validation procedures are implemented; • Provide technology roadmap in line with the business strategic direction. • Apply operational excellence tools and techniques to continuously improve processes and eliminate waste. Experience & Skillset requirements: • A minimum of 8 years' relevant experience is essential in programming systems support, preferably in a food or process environment. • Alan Bradley Control Logix & PLC5 programming essential. • Knowledge of control networks essential. • Experience of RSView SE, iFix or Intouch SCADA configuration. • Electrical & instrumentation expertise. • Knowledge of recipe or batch software. • Experience in Access, VB and SQL is an advantage. • Demonstrated experience of delivering projects in a highly automated environment.
