Job title: Data Analyst. Reporting into: Manager of the Data Analysis Unit. There will be no direct reports into this role. Contract duration: 12 month contract initially. Job location: This Data Analyst job will be based in Ballina, Co Mayo. There will be the flexibility for the successful applicant to work remotely for 3-4 days per week however there will be a requirement to be on site 1 – 2 days per working week at a minimum. The Data Analysis Unit (team of 6) in Ballina is in the early stages of development due to rapid change and growth in the organisation. This role will help ensure that services are carried in a data driven way and that data analysis is embedded into every day operational decision making. The Data Analysis Unit currently looks after the following activities: Developing data strategy and delivery roadmap. Delivering ‘business as usual’ reporting needs. Establishing a data architecture and warehouse to support effective data analysis. Here are some of the Data Analyst Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the delivery of specific agreed Data Analysis projects. Designing and building of business reports that can be automated and run ‘on the fly’ to replace manually generated excel reports. Applying analytics to extract information from datastores. Applying analytics, including using statistical analysis / data mining methodologies. Deliver presentations on report analysis and data insight findings to senior stakeholders which include Directors and CEO. Facilitate shadowing of Data Analysis team members as part of internal upskilling programs. Submit a progress report each week which details work items progressed, current status of work items and any risks or issues on agreed work items. Essential technical skills and attributes needed: Excellent technical experience and competence in SQL – (to include data extraction and manipulation, query optimisation, writing of stored procedures etc. Experience of applied statistical analyses, software and data analysis techniques. Experience in using data visualisation tools. Ability to describe/report data abnormalities or data quality problems encountered in a non-technical manner that is understandable by non-technical business users. Have strong verbal and written communications skills; Have strong management and leadership skills. Have a track record of delivering complex DA projects to completion. Be a systemic problem solver, implementing solutions to solve root cause of problems; Be a highly motivated, energetic, team player. A more detailed Job Description can be supplied.
