Description

Materials Buyer / Planner. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of production planning and purchasing, preferably within the medical device industry, and a keen understanding of SAP. They must be customer-focused and results-driven. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative as well as within a team environment. Main responsibilities include: Planning: Delete all production orders & convert planned orders to production orders on a monthly basis. Action MRP exception messages for all assigned materials. Contribute Raw Data and Interrogate in order to establish short and medium-term manning/capacity requirements. Attend Material Cost Savings Meeting and action tasks as assigned. Liaise with Distribution to correct material variances and correct MRP as a result of any transactions required. Lead weekly S&OP meeting to minimise production downtime. Act as Point of Contact for all planning issues within/outside the value stream. System Maintenance: Review RM & WIP safety stock levels and adjust as required including the management and review of supplier Kanbans. Maintain material info records, maintain source lists. Maintain master data. Send out updated specs to suppliers – update relevant master data in SAP & the spec book. Vendor Management: Manage invoice queries, missed shipments etc. Manage new/replacement product timelines and the depletion of old stock, change purchase orders accordingly. Run Requirements for Kanban vendors and issue on a monthly basis. Track Vendor Failures i.e. late missed shipments, missing documentation etc. Act as point of contact for assigned vendors & sub-contractors. Vendor managed inventory. Material Management (for assigned materials): Support the planning process to ensure on-time availability, within agreed inventory parameters, of RM and WIP items utilizing Kanban or SAP MRP systems as appropriate. Validate and convert system generated requisitions to firm purchase orders, communicate to vendor and file as required. Manage order-call off for blanket orders. Support Inventory Analysis for RM, WIP and Finished Goods. Support the inter-plant & subcontract process ensuring that materials ship ex Ballina as scheduled. Action DMR requirements and work with vendors to complete, as appropriate. Support new/replacement product and the depletion of old stock to minimise write off of material. Liaise with Master data team to ensure effectivity dates are maintained in order to meet above objective. Update planning master data fields for these products. Minimise material write-off and obsolescence. Academic/Credentials/Certifications. Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management is essential. Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) desirable. Length of experience. Essential – 3+ years relevant industry experience, ideally in medical devices. Desirable - Experience in a similar purchasing role with similar high level of SKU’s. Specialized skills/technical knowledge. Essential: Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of modern, effective production scheduling processes and techniques. Excellent mathematical, analytical skills and MS Excel are a prerequisite, along with an ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization. Strong knowledge of SAP, Kanban systems and operation of JIT. Desirable: Process or product knowledge within the medical devices industry would be a distinct advantage.
